VA DREAMers DACA Lawsuit with O&G as Co-Counsel

On Tuesday, November 21, 2017, two immigrant youth from Virginia—Jonathan Alvarenga Recinos and Nurimaro Park—filed a lawsuit against Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III, in his official capacity as Attorney General of the United States; Elaine C. Duke, in her official capacity as Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security; United States Citizenship and Immigration Services; and United States Department of Homeland Security in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria Division.  The lawsuit seeks to have Recinos’ and Park’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) reinstated and extended for two years.  They argue that the Trump Administration’s decision to deny them the opportunity to once more renew DACA violated their constitutional rights.  The plaintiffs are represented pro bono by the Legal Aid Justice Center and Outten and Golden.
